She began her career as a social worker in Philadelphia working with foster children. While she enjoyed her work, she was not quite fulfilled or content. After entering therapy herself to help resolve issues from her past, she began to feel the pull towards counseling. Julia earned her Master’s degree at Troy University, then began practicing at Charis Counseling Center. Her distinctive background with children and adolescents gives her the ability to work well with families and their unique challenges.
During her internship, Julia’s scope broadened under the supervision of a Marriage and Family Therapist. She continues to have the privilege of working with couples as they navigate the triumphs and difficulties of marriage.
Working with women at different places in their own journey, continues to hold a special place in Julia’s heart. Whether it is stress, depression, feeling “stuck”, past ghosts or a general feeling of being overwhelmed, many women continue to maneuver through life “barely there”. Julia’s expertise in women’s issues allow her to help women move through the issues holding them back.
Julia also has experience working with people of all ages on a variety of issues, including: adjustment to life transitions, divorce, child abuse, depression, grief and bereavement, anxiety and trauma.
